Port of Tacoma commissioners named Connie Bacon to lead the 2011 Commission. Bacon, who was elected to the Commission in November 1997, replaces Commissioner Don Johnson as president.
“To be on the Commission, to be elected by the people in the community who depend on us to do a good job for them, is a distinct honor,” Bacon said, as she accepted the gavel from Johnson. “To take a turn at being president is a double honor.”
The Port’s five commissioners serve four-year terms. Officer positions rotate yearly.
