Constituents, stakeholders and the press are increasingly calling on lawmakers to convene a special session in November to consider a negotiated transportation revenue package to address the backlog of critical infrastructure projects, including the completion of State Route 167.
The News Tribune joined that chorus on Sunday when it called on legislators to bring a highway compromise to a special session. "Washington’s lawmakers have two months to show that they’re serious about highways," editorialize the paper. "Success in a special session would require that legislative leaders come to Olympia with a deal already in hand. This is a test of commitment. The urgency of these projects more than justifies a brief special session uncluttered by other issues and arguments.."
