The industrial rain gardens at the Port were highlighted as successful green infrastructure projects in the September issue of Stormwater Magazine.
The magazine profiled Totem Ocean Trailer Express's three industrial rain gardens, as well as the Port’s “rain gardens in a box” and the 600-foot-long biofiltration system at the West Hylebos log yard.
These projects mimic the natural environment to filter pollutants from stormwater runoff to meet stringent water quality rules and cost less than traditional stormwater treatment systems.
