Colin Millan has joined the Port of Tacoma as Director of Security where he will be responsible for the leadership and overall direction of the Port’s security department. Millan’s portfolio includes security operations across all Port assets and facilities, incident management, security project management, as well as Port Patrol and Terminal Security Officers for SSA Terminal Tacoma.
Since 2009, Millan managed and administered the security program for Bank of America’s western region. As Senior Vice President, he oversaw security for more than 3,100 facilities with 16,000 employees in 13 states. Early in his career he served for seven years as a police officer in Hampton, VA, working as a patrol officer, investigator, and member of the SWAT team.
“I couldn’t be more excited to embark on the adventure of leading the Port of Tacoma Security Team,” Millan said. “The Port has a long and rich history operating in Pierce County and being part of that will be such rewarding experience.”
Millan holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Studies from Colorado Technical University.
“Colin brings a wealth of experience to this role and we are very excited to welcome him to our Port family,” said Port of Tacoma Executive Director Eric Johnson.
Millan succeeds Louis P. Cooper Jr. who recently retired after 18 years with the Port.
