Congressman-elect Denny Heck today convened stakeholders from throughout the South Sound for a roundtable discussion on the importance of completing State Route 167. His main message: "Completion of SR-167 is my number one priority. Is it yours?" Unanimously, the group agreed
The group also discussed the importance of mobilizing grassroots support for the project. As Representative Hans Zeiger noted, "I should be getting e-mails daily from my constituents on this issue." This begs the question: have YOU talked to your lawmaker lately about the need to complete SR-167.
One other minor, but important note: WSDOT Secretary Paula Hammond noted that the Department has renamed the project. No longer will they refer to it as the SR-167 Extension, but rather, the SR-167 Completion project. As she pointed out, SR-167 was first conceptualize in the 1950s with construction beginning in the 1980s. We hear a lot about the need to finish what we started, and SR-167 supporters agree: this highway needs to be completed just like other half-built projects.
