The Washington State Department of Transportation’s paving work on State Route 509 is expected to continue to cause delays through the Port industrial area this summer.

The expected work schedule for the next two weeks includes:

Week of July 7, daytime: Sidewalk work

  • Monday - Expect lane closures at Alexander Avenue and Taylor Way from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Weeks of July 7 and 14, nighttime: Paving work

  • Monday through Thursday - Expect lane closures from Alexander Avenue to Taylor Way between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The project includes paving the northbound and southbound stretches of SR 509 between Alexander Avenue and Norpoint Way.

Drivers are encouraged to adjust travel times if possible to avoid construction-related delays on SR 509. Please use caution when traveling through the area.
