Evergreen to resume UAM service through Tacoma
Evergreen Line will enhance coverage of the U.S. West Coast-Asia-Mediterranean (UAM) trade routes by reintroducing a 20-port pendulum service for the region that will range from Tacoma to Valencia, Spain, via the Far East, Middle East and Suez Canal.
The UAM service will operate with a total of 14 U-type (5,364 TEU) vessels. The first sailing from the Port of Tacoma will be May 23.
The UAM service will bring additional container and intermodal rail volumes through Tacoma.
"The return of the UAM service to Tacoma is very good news," said Scott Mason, president of ILWU Local 23. "It's good news for the workforce represented by ILWU Local 23 and for the additional family wage jobs that will be created in Pierce County."
