House Transportation Committee Chair Judy Clibborn is anticipated to unveil a transportation revenue package tomorrow at 12:15. Supporters of SR-167 are waiting anxiously to see whether the package will include enough funding to substantively complete the highway which has been on the drawing board for decades.

In the meantime, we wanted to share a few tidbits from Olympia. The first is that the Washington State Farm Bureau has announced their support for completing SR-167. They understand that it is difficult to export Washington state grown goods overseas when critical links in freight corridors between our ports and fields are missing.

The South County Area Transportation Board (SCAT-Board) also today sent leaders to House and Senate Transportation budget writers calling for funding to complete SR-167 as well as SR-509 in south King County. "These projects...are necessary to keep the ports of Seattle and Tacoma strong and competitive in the face of challenges from Canada and East Coast ports. Manufacturers and agricultural producers around the state depend on the ports as gateways to world markets." Here is a copy of the full letter:

Finally, the blog Social Capital Review had a nice piece about efforts to close the existing funding shortfall for SR-167.
