Increased congestion on Washington’s highways will result in thousands of lost jobs in freight-dependent businesses and more than a $3 billion hit to Washington’s economy, a new report issued by the Washington State Department of Transportation concludes. Completion of projects like SR-167 would certainly help get things moving. For example, travel time between Puyallup and Tacoma would improve by 15%, saving 13,915 person-hours of travel time per year if the state were to complete the highway.
