The state Legislature adjourned sine die on Friday, wrapping up the 2015 regular session but not, unfortunately, a statewide transportation revenue package.

While both the full Senate and House Transportation Committee passed packages to complete mega projects like State Route 167, improve ferry service, increase maintenance and fund transit, the two chambers have yet to reconcile the differences between the two proposals.

Gov. Inslee announced that he will summon legislators back for a special session this Wednesday. This will provide lawmakers one more opportunity to complete work on these vital investments.

Passage of a transportation package is critical for the long term financial health of the state. Lawmakers need to get this done before the come home for good. Let’s finish what we started.
