The Port of Tacoma will host the first of five evening workshops June 23 and June 25 designed to educate the public about the Port, its history, operations and future development plans.

These "Port 101" workshops expand last year’s launch of the program in an effort to connect more broadly with citizens throughout the community.

"It’s important for citizens to know that Port business reaches deep into our communities, not just along the waterfront," said Port Commission President Clare Petrich. "These workshops allow us to reach out to our community and listen to the questions people might have about the historic roots of our maritime industry, what role this activity plays today in our economy and how it will grow and affect them in the future."

The first two 90-minute workshops will be held in these Pierce County communities on the following dates and times:

Steilacoom
Tuesday, June 23, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Steilacoom Town Hall

Gig Harbor
Thursday, June 25, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Gig Harbor City Hall
3510 Grandview Street
