The Port of Tacoma is seeking public comment on its draft 2021-2026 Strategic Plan. The draft plan can be viewed on the Port of Tacoma’s website and comments can be submitted through an online form. The comment period runs through April 5, 2021. (To submit an alternative format request, please call 253-888-4810).

The draft plan establishes a road map over the next five years, guiding the Port’s priorities through five mission-focused strategic goals in the areas of economic vitality, environmental leadership, organizational success, transportation advocacy and community connections. The draft plan also lays out a set of accompanying strategies for each of the five foundational goals.

Efforts to update the Strategic Plan first began in early 2020 and included extensive community outreach to obtain feedback and ideas. In July 2020, the Port launched an online open house that proved to be a key outreach tool during the pandemic when in-person methods of meeting were not possible.

"This draft Strategic Plan is the product of significant engagement among Port commissioners, staff, community and business organizations, and the public," said Dick Marzano, Port of Tacoma Commission president. "We are grateful for the thoughtful feedback and ideas we received over the past year and thank all the community members whose input helped shape this draft plan."

The Port of Tacoma Commission will consider the 2021-2026 Strategic Plan for adoption at its next regularly scheduled public meeting on April 15, 2021.
