Graham VanderSchelden, Environmental Project Manager presents to the Port commission.

The Port of Tacoma Commission on July 18 voted unanimously to phase out greenhouse gas emissions under the Port’s direct control by 2040, accelerating the target from 2050.

Commissioners also passed a resolution declaring July Pride month at the Port, approved an update to Port policies on state environmental reviews, and authorized funding for remedial investigation of a Port-owned property that was once home to a steam plant.

Commissioners received a report outlining potential future uses of the Earley Business Center and an update from Port staff and Tacoma Public Schools about development of a second interlocal agreement for the new Port Maritime Center/Maritime 253 skills center project.
