Jean West has rejoined the Port of Tacoma after seven years with other organizations to become chief human resources officer.

Before rejoining the Port, West served most recently as assistant human resources director for the City of Bellevue, where she was responsible for labor relations, compensation, benefits and retirement services.

West also has worked for Seattle City Light, Smith Barney and King Broadcasting.

In her new position, West is responsible for leading the Port’s human resources strategy, recruiting and staffing, compensation, benefits, retirement services, training and employee relations. She takes over for Bernice Griffin, who served on an interim basis when the position became vacant last year.

West holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Washington.

She lives in Sammamish.
