The rumor in Olympia today—that has been confirmed by at least two sources—is that Curtis King, Chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, and Steve Hobbes, the committee's ranking member, have brokered a deal on a statewide transportation package.
Sen. King was to have briefed his caucus today while Sen. Hobbes is scheduled to brief his caucus tomorrow. It remains unclear at this time how the proposal will be received by their colleagues—or even what is in the package—but this could be an important first step in resolving the current log jam on transportation funding. In fact, the Seattle Times this morning reiterated the need for urgency to "clear the roadblocks" and pass a package.
Could this finally create a path forward towards the completion of State Route 167? Hopefully we will have more details in the days to come. Stay tuned.
