The City of Tacoma revised its plans to complete phase 2 of the Milwaukee Way asphalt overlay project. The work is now planned from May 27 to June 4.

The work includes grinding off approximately 3 inches of existing roadway and laying new asphalt on Milwaukee Way from Marshall Avenue to State Route 509. The work is weather dependent. Access to all businesses will be provided during construction.

The work is in preparation for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project, expected to begin in early June. The City completed the first phase of the project from Lincoln Avenue to Marshall Avenue in 2014.

The project is funded through a federal grant and heavy haul permit fees.
