A great piece appeared in today's Business Examiner about the push for SR 167 completion by the state's business community.
The story quoted a number of business leaders from throughout the state, including Toby Murray from Murray Pacific, Tom Pierson from the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, Louise Bray from Schnitzer Steel, and Matt Harris from the Washington State Potato Commission. All four noted the importance of the project in generating jobs and creating economic growth not just for the South Sound, but the entire state of Washington.
Murray summed it best when he was quoted as saying, “I’m just a long-term businessperson in Tacoma that knows what a dramatic improvement the construction of 167 would have on all traffic and specifically helping our port become more competitive...If my community and my state benefit from all that I think it’s a great thing. It’s a huge project for the whole state.”
The article did note, however, the importance of the public to share with legislators the importance of passing a transportation revenue package. As a reminder, folks can contact their lawmakers by calling the Legislative Hotline at 800-562-6000.
