Over seventy people representing labor, business and government showed up for a standing room-only meeting of the SR 167 Completion Coalition.
Congressman Denny Heck, who spearheaded the organization, encouraged supporters to reach out to their lawmakers in Olympia and encourage them to both push for a transportation revenue package as well as insist SR-167 completion be included.
"This is possible," he told the group.
Tim Thompson, retained by the Coalition to provide support for the organization, echoed this theme, noting that business in particular needs to make the case. While many agree that there are several lobbyists working the issue in Olympia, local lawmakers needed to hear from "real people" back at home.
Over the next several days, meeting attendees plan to work on expanding the stakeholder group, finalize key messages and begin reaching out to local editorial boards to make the case for why SR-167 completion is vital to the state's economic interests.
