Members of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce have returned from a weeklong visit with federal lawmakers in Washington, DC. Central to their federal legislative agenda was completion of SR-167.

Happily, they found a willing audience who understand the importance of the project not only to the state, but also the nation.

"I can't think of a better project that meets the needs of our ag sector for getting their product to market," said Senator Cantwell to the group when they visited with her.

Congressman Dave Reichert agreed: "SR-167 is a huge benefit to my District-- both the west side where the highway runs through the heart of Kent Valley as well as the east side of my district which exports so many goods through our ports."

As Senator Patty Murray went on to note, "One of the most common issues I hear about from Pierce County is the completion of 167"

All agreed that it is now time for state lawmakers to complete their work on a transportation revenue package. "The biggest thing in the short-term is passage of a transportation package in Olympia," said Congressman Adam Smith.

Summing it up best Was Congressman Denny Heck: "Never again will SR 167 not be on a transportation list. It is time to get to work"
