Commissioners swear in at the January commission meeting.

Three Port of Tacoma Commissioners took the oath of office at their Jan. 20 meeting. Commissioners Marzano, McCarthy and Meyer are all serving additional four-year terms after being re-elected by voters in the November election. They were sworn in by the Honorable Philip K. Sorensen, Presiding Judge Pierce County Superior Court.

Also at the January meeting, the commissioners discussed 2022 boards and commission appointments, which they will finalize at their regularly scheduled February meeting.

The five-member commission is the governing body of the Port, setting policy, strategic direction and authorizing major expenditures. Port commissioners serve four-year terms.

The commission holds regular public meetings at noon on the third Thursday of the month. Commission meetings and study sessions are open to the public but due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the public is encouraged to attend meetings remotely until further notice. Meetings can be viewed, live or on demand, on the Port’s website, and also listened to by phone. Information on meeting dates, agendas, meeting call-in number, and public comment guidelines can be found here.
