The Washington State Senate today wound up its debate on a statewide transportation package that would complete the remaining six miles of State Route 167. This highway of statewide significance has been 40 years in the making, with construction stalled since the late 1980s.

The Port of Tacoma would specifically like to thank the following senators who represent portions of Pierce County for voting for the revenue bill: Randi Becker, Bruce Dammeier, Jan Angel, Jeannie Darneille, Steve O’Ban, Steve Conway and Mark Miloscia.

The bill now heads to the House of Representatives for consideration. House leaders have long said that the Senate would need to act before they could negotiate a final agreement on a package. Now that the Senate has acted, supporters of SR 167 completion would encourage the House to begin those conversations with their colleagues immediately.
